You will all recall the naval battle of Flamborough Head in 1779 - the only time the Americans tried to invade us during the American War of Independence. John Paul Jones was Scottish by the way! The leased vessel Countess of Scarborough defended our northern shores. #battles

Evidence has been found of Christian worship on the site of Bradford Cathedral since Anglo-Saxon times, possibly from as early as 627 when Paulinus passed nearby on his mission north. There may also have been a wooden Norman church prior to a stone building being erected
